Hello and welcome to my winter skincare routine. Obviously due to the enveloping cold and bitter weather, our crackling skin needs that extra dazzle of TLC.
So here I am to help you get those rosy cheeks supple and smooth in no time!
- Wash off any makeup residue from the day
Use a gentle facial wash and massage in the bubbles with some water until your face feels fresh and clean
- Apply a moisturising/clearing face mask
Depending on the state or type of your skin, choose an apt face mask to use either on specific problem areas, or all over the face. Leave to settle for 10-15 minutes.
- Gently exfoliate this off
Using a slightly textured hot-cloth and some warm soapy water or gentle exfoliant, rub away the face mask using circular motions to cast away any dead skin cells in the process.
- (At this point personally i'd clean my nose piercing)
Before applying any products, I take some time to soak my piercing, clean around it and apply a healing tea-tree spray.
You could also use this time to pluck your eyebrows, clean ear piercings or use a drying spot treatment on pesky pimples before taking the steps towaards adding moisture.
- Cleanse your face
Using a micellar water or other cleanser, apply some to the face using a cotton pad and wipe away any residue of face mask or other substance.
- Apply a tiny drop of face oil to dry areas
Personally, specific areas on my cheeks, chin or nose tend to become very dry during the winter and can begin to crackle. This calls for a moisture surge so apply a small drop of facial oil to those areas and allow to soak for a while.
- Lock in and let sit with a rosewater spray
Here I take my Mario Badescu rosewater spray and give 5 even spritz's evenly across my face and let this soak into my skin for 5 minutes before moving onto the next step.
- Cover your face and neck in your favourite moisturiser
Now I evenly apply a blueberry size glob of aloe vera bee propolis moisturiser across my face and neck to lock in every moisture drop we've just added
- Apply lip balm
To finish the routine I always apply a generous amount of lip balm since lips are one of the first things to become chapped on my face and they need to be well looked after during winter
- Get a perfect night's sleep
Sleep is proven to improve the feel and look of skin naturally, especially if you struggle with spots or acne.
Obviously some aspects of this routine- such as the use of a face mask and oil- should not to be completed every night since overuse of such products could cause an imbalance in your natural facial oils or sebum production.
However it is essential to give yourself a pamper like this, in my eyes, about once a week or possibly twice if you're feeling particularly worn out or problematic with your skin.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post and I hope this may have given you some ideas for a useful pamper/skincare routine structure.
Be sure to check out tomorrow's post.
