Hello and welcome to my Christmas Eve special! I have a Q&A for you today which consists of an array Christmassy questions to ask myself ( It sounds quite lonely when I put it like that). So here we go, a mixture of Festive questions to finish of the season.
Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
Yes! We have a tradition when we all open one present on Christmas Eve before our Christmas dinner. Yes, you read right, we have Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve.
What holiday traditions are you looking forward to most this year?
Watching National Lampoons Christmas Vacation! Me, all of my brothers and my dad watch it every year and it’s just hilarious, it’s so nostalgic.
Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Fake. Sorry, but if I’m honest I believe it’s cheaper, less messy, and less hassle. And if you say “oh but it smells so nice!” I have a candle melt that smells like pine so don’t worry, I’m all sorted.
What is your favourite Christmas film?
Love actually!!! Oh my goodness I adore love actually, it’s one of my favourite films in existence. I introduced all of my friends to it and now they love it too.
Where do you usually spend your holiday?
At home! I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else, I’ll probably still come home for Christmas when I’m 30 just like my brothers do.
What is your favourite Christmas song?
Oooh, that’s so tricky! I don’t think I can choose, there are so many that I love. Maybe The Pogues’ Fairytale of New York, or Shakin’ Stevens’ Merry Christmas Everyone. I also adore River by Joni Mitchell and the whole Pentatonix Christmas album. All of them I suppose.
What is your all-time favourite holiday food/sweet treat?
I think I have to say our family famous rocky road, me and my mum have made it for several years now and it’s divine! However, It does contribute to Christmas weight gain unfortunately. Oh no!I’ve just come back to check this draft and I can’t believe I didn’t mention roast potatoes, I generally have the most roast potatoes out of everyone each year. No joke, we had a mini Christmas dinner last weekend with my Grandparents and I ate 7 roasties. I LOVE them!
Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?
Oooh, both. I love the process of discovering what we all got for each other and the joy in all of us from giving and receiving. I can’t decide, sorry.
What is your favourite thing about Christmas?
I would have said family but I answered that for a question later on so I’m going to say the build up. The excitement of buying gifts, wrapping them, putting them under the tree, getting all festive, putting up decorations. So I suppose it’s the excitement and festivity during the build up. And the atmosphere. So much!!
When do you start getting excited for Christmas?
In my head, about April time. But I start actively getting excited and ready in late October/early November.
What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?
I find this question so difficult to answer because I love everything that I receive. I suppose back in the day it would have been my baby Annabelle and baby born dolls with the pram and accessories. Although more recently I think my Bose mini soundlink speaker has to take the top spot.
As a kid, did a sibling ever receive a present that you wished was for you?
I don’t think so, not that I can remember.
What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
New York, Edinburgh or Belgium. I just think they would be sooo magical!
Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?
I usually make a list of them but don’t really stick to them very well. Oops. I still make them though.
What makes the holidays special for you?
Family! It might be cheesy but Christmas brings everyone together and there is so much excitement within us all.
You have been granted one Christmas wish…what will it be?
A white Christmas, I’m not talking snowed in unable to leave (not that we’d want to leave) but a lovely blanket of sparkling snow on Christmas morning would just be magical to wake up to. It’s such a childhood dream. I’d want everything else to be the same.
